Massage Therapy

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your appointment.

Our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), will discuss your health history form and massage preferences. You’ll also discuss your assessment and treatment plan with your RMT.

Before your massage begins, your RMT will then leave the room to allow you to undress. During your massage, the RMT will occasionally check and ask you whether the pressure being applied is okay. Please feel free to communicate with your therapist about pressure at any time, as well as about draping or any pain you might be feeling during the massage.

When your massage is complete, your RMT will let you know, and they will leave the room while you get dressed. Once you have dressed, you can come out of the room and your RMT will provide follow up, self-care advice and or exercises.

Physiotherapy

For your first session, your physiotherapist may review and discuss your medical history with you to assess how best to perform the treatment session. If you have any concerns, please let your therapist know before the session begins.

Wear clothing that allows you to feel relaxed and comfortable. During your session, your therapist may ask you to do some exercises and stretches to assess the area of discomfort. Please wear clothing that allows the area of pain to be easily accessible. It is a good idea to wear a T-shirt or Tank top if coming in for your neck, mid-back, shoulders, elbows, forearms and/or wrists/hands. Bring shorts if you are coming in for your lower back, hips, knees and/or ankles.

The therapist will conduct a physical exam in order to review your condition. You may be asked to perform some movements or exercises and check for any tenderness, swelling or restricted tissues while performing the exam. Physiotherapy treatments vary from patient too patient and may include the following methods: massage treatment, therapeutic ultrasound, exercises and stretches and heat therapy.
